For Immediate Release: WRVU Friends & Family Files Reply to VSC's Opposition Petition To Deny

Nashville, TN - August 25, 2012 - On August 23, 2012, attorneys Michael Couzens and Alan Korn, acting on behalf of WRVU Friends & Family (WRVUFF), filed with the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) a Reply in furtherance of its Petition to deny the renewal of license WRVU Nashville (PDF). WRVUFF's Reply brief (PDF) responds to to Vanderbilt Student Communications (VSC) Opposition to our Petition and highlights the numerous deficiencies of that Opposition.

By this Reply WRVUFF continues our fight to stop the sale of WRVU, return WRVU 91.1 FM to independent, student run programming, and protect and promote broadcast localism, diversity, and the public interest. We are confident that the FCC will give due consideration to the issues we raise and will ultimately reject VSC renewal application while the agreements with WPLN are in place.

Even as our Petition is under review, WRVUFF is turning its attention to the latest cynical move by VSC, the premature assignment of control to Nashville Public Radio. WRVUFF plans to fight this deliberate attempt to make an end run around the renewal process and is confident in its ability to block the proposed assignment. To do so, we need your help. Now is the time to rally and pledge support.
